WordPress Plugin: Recent Posts grouped by year, month, and day
Friday, October 26th, 2007
Since a simple list of the recent blog posts looks really boring (ok, maybe the content is the origin of boredom), I wanted to group those posts by year, month and day.
The nearest match to what I wanted was A plugin for adding the post date to wp_get_archives. I based my plugin on Oliver Baty’s plugin. Thanks for putting up the code to download, it was really helpful. (^_^)
However, before the coding started, there was a need to conduct a more aggressive search; just in case there was already a Plugin that did the same thing I wished.
Boards of Canada - Dayvan Cowboy Music Video
Thursday, October 25th, 2007
Woot, new music from Boards. Just 1 year later. Happy happy!
A long time ago, I was listening to [Boards Of Canada - 1998 - Music Has The Right To Children] and
[Boards Of Canada - 2002 - Geogaddi], just to try something unheard-of. Instant musical surprise and bliss.

Blog favrik.com version 3!
Thursday, October 25th, 2007
By no means complete. And that is fine.
Changes and justifications
- Improve navigation. Previously, there was no explicit navigation options.
- Attempt to reduce bounce rate by increasing the size of display for the categories and recent articles lists. That is, if a visitor comes to the front page, her next click should be to an on-site link. I write for myself, but is interesting to see if the changes I did affect this rate.
- Added some colors to try to make the theme less boring and provide easy identification of content zones.
- Added random quotes. A feature requested by the client (that would be me). Let’s see if there are some refreshs. xD
Previous versions
So far, the only thing I’m sure of, is that I will be changing the design in 1 to 3 months from now. I like it how it is now. About 90% complete. But that missing 10% will be the most painful.
jQuery.slideDown flicker when a form is inside the sliding container
Monday, October 22nd, 2007
I prefer long and clear post titles. (^_^)
Having invested more than 8 hours in trying to solve this little problem and, as usual, when I was just going to give up and go with no animation, I came to the realization that I was focusing the first input element of the form right after calling slideDown().
So, I removed that code, checked the documentation and, ta-da!, problem fixed.
Trouble with jQuery Ajax load() method
Sunday, October 21st, 2007
When you do a search on google with the title of this post as the keywords expecting to get some light on a problem you have been banging your head for some hours; it is most likely you won’t find a solution. The first reason is that jQuery does rock, and the second is that the documentation for the load() method is very clear. So I’m writing this to make a stop in time and try not to forget this small observation.
As part of a side project of mine, I’m coding a small app with CI as the php framework and jQuery as the js one. Problem is: I’ve been trying to Ajax load some content without success for some time.
