Entendiendo Ajax a prueba de balas o Bulletproof Ajax
Tuesday, August 21st, 2007
A study of PHP Frameworks
Wednesday, August 15th, 2007
The main reasons to use a framework are: saving time, don’t repeat yourself, avoid boring tasks and produce results faster. All of these with the feeling of security, reliability and happiness.
Having already experienced the cycle of using a framework, then using my own (incomplete) framework, and then wanting to adopt a new framework because my own is taking so much time to write. I want to make an informed decision on whether I stick to my own or adopt one.
NetpbmResize yet another Image manipulation class for PHP
Monday, August 13th, 2007
This is a shameless plug, if you are in need of an image resizing solution in PHP, you could try NetpbmResize. It uses NetPBM for resizing images. And since binaries for windows and linux are available it’s just a matter of uploading them and start resizing. (^-^)y
XRM Radio Alternative

Been listening to this online station for about a week now. It’s refreshing. The music collection is not big and some notable played artists are: Alice in chains, Blink 182, Bush, Audioslave, Collective Soul, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, etc. So now you have a pretty good idea of what kind of music this stations plays.
You can even register and make 2 song requests per hour (or is two hours?). All the work, bandwidth, service; all, is provided free of charge (as in free beer). Awesome!
Getting baselined
Saturday, August 11th, 2007
Yes! I did it, it took a few hours but finally the old layout has been updated with a baseline (and partly a grid). It looks a lot better. Image of previous style and layout. Main difficulty was to realize that the em is a relative unit depending on whatever base font size you set in an absolute unit. (*_*)
Time for some linkage:
- Compose to a Vertical Rhythm by Richard Rutter
- Setting Type on the Web to a Baseline Grid
by Wilson Miner
A long time ago, I read those tutorials. Today, I just woke up. The inspiration came from a recent development: a CSS framework. To experience the beauty of having a baseline try syncotype and, for this site, set the line-height to 24px. Syncotype rocks!
I will be playing with the style these days as there are some minor areas that need attention like: list spacing, form controls spacing, color scheme …and that header. (¬_¬)
